Founded in 1994, the Academy of Music and Sound offers music education by professional musicians for ages 16-19, through to undergraduate and postgraduate study in Edinburgh, Exeter, Gateshead, Glasgow, Southampton and Online.

Our students are at the heart of the Academy of Music and Sound, supported by our team of dedicated tutors. We offer specialist music performance and production education, preparing you for a career in the modern music industry with recognised music qualifications.

We offer one of the most flexible undergraduate music pathways in the UK, inviting applicants from a broad diversity of musical disciplines such as guitar players, bass players, singers, songwriters, drummers, multi-media composers, TV, film and gaming music composers.  The choices embedded into the programme mean students leave as independent, multi-skilled music practitioners, ready to work in the modern music industry.

AMS Alumni are now successfully working within the UK and Global Music Industry, Notable Alumni Include
Tristan Evans
Drummer in Virgin EMI signed band, The Vamps. He is also the producer on many of their songs. They have launched their own record label and played in stadiums across the world.
Lawrence Jones
Songwrtier, guitarist and vocalist, winning Young Blues Artist of the Year in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He has supported Van Morrison, James Bay, Jools Holland and Buddy Guy.
Josh Kumra
Singed to Sony RCA, he co-wrote the number 1 single, ‘Don’t Go’ with Wretch 32. Going on to release his album, collaborting with the likes of Naughty Boy and Emeli Sande.
Eddy Thrower
Drummer in Lower Than Atlantis, selling out 6 UK tours as well as having 2 top 40 albums. They have music featured on games such as Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero.
