In the modern music industry, an artist’s brand and creative vision are more important than ever. Whether you are an artist yourself or looking to pursue a career in the music industry, this course is a great first step in understanding marketing an artist or music project.
Course Details
In this specially curated short course, students can expect to learn what really makes a brand stand out. From the development of branding to methods for music promotion, UK music industry structures and the roles of different industry experts, this course sets out to offer an accessible starting point to the music industry.
As well as expanding their knowledge of marketing, branding, promotional routes, potential career pathways and more, students will also develop essential practical skills.
Being able to convey a brand to an audience as an artist is essential. Within their time on the course, students will learn how to put together press kits, posters, and portfolios through expanding their design and writing skills, giving them the chance to learn and express themselves in a supported environment.
Our course is SQA accredited; on successful completion, you will also receive an industry recognised National Progression Award in ‘Music Business’ to add to your CV.
This course is also accredited by the Musicians Union! The inspiration for the course came from discussion with the MU team about gaps in UK industry. Our course materials were developed specifically to meet the needs of current MU members and those working in the sectors across the UK industry.

This course is available for those who reside in Scotland and are aged fourteen and above.

*Please note if you are not currently a Musicians Union member the ‘Join for a Pound’ scheme will cost £6 for the first six months and thereafter will revert to £20 p/m for the remaining six months of the one-year membership. This short course is the first step in your musical career, and there are many routes you can go down to further develop your skills.
After completing this short course, you could enroll onto our HND in Music or BA (Hons) in Music and Sound if applicable.
