Are you a passionate drummer, who wants to kick-start their career in music? Come join us for this year’s first face-to-face drums workshop at Colorsound Studios.

This is an excellent opportunity to come and make some noise with like-minded people after months of quiet solitude…

Attendees will be able to cover various topics ranging from:

  • Basic sight reading skills
  • Technique studies
  • Groove playing as part of a band setup
  • Soloing
  • Using different tools of the trade
  • Confidently working with the click
  • Notation and session studies

Full kit provided for demonstration and attendee participation. A practice pad session to explore various techniques used by the modern drummer. There will be a chance to find out all about studying at AMS Edinburgh and ask anything about our courses in music with drums pathway.

Participants will need their own sticks, ear protection, notepad and pencil, everything else will be provided on the day.

The workshop will be led by Jason Irvine – AMS Edinburgh’s drums tutor.

Jason graduated with HND in Music Performance from the University of Highlands & Islands. He is a committed and highly experienced drummer with several years of experience teaching drums at AMS. His prior experience includes being a percussion tutor at Perth & Kinross Council. When he is not in the teaching chair, Jason enjoys playing in band ‘Monticule’ – gigging for FyneFest, Hebcelt Festival and BBC Introducing session with Ricky Ross, the band has received wide coverage on iPlayer and the national radio.
