For our November Edinburgh Open Event we wanted to do something special for the budding songwriters in our community!

Join us at our AMS Edinburgh Centre on Saturday 6th November 2021 from 4pm-6pm for a FREE songwriting workshop with Eleanor Hickey. This event gives you the chance to chat about life at the Academy with a current student, hear all about Eleanors journey so far in the music industry while learning a little more about the art of songwriting.

There will also be a presentation and Q&A session from our Edinburgh team on the day. They’ll be sharing all the information you need for taking your next steps in further education.

Event Schedule:

  • 16:00-16:10 Introducing: Eleanor Hickey – background and experience
  • 16:10 -17:00 Workshop: on developing key song writing techniques, inspiration and representation in music
  • 17:10 – 17:30: AMS Presentation (Focusing on course information & life at AMS)
  • 17:30 – 18:00:  Q&A Session

We’re excited to have you back in our centres! We hope you’ll enjoy attending events and getting to experience a little bit of AMS. To allow for social distancing, we are running this as a small event so get your free tickets while they’re available to secure your space. We would also recommend bringing your own guitar for the session if possible.

Eleanor Hickey

Eleanor Hickey is a singer/songwriter and a current student here at AMS. She has written songs from a young age and has dabbled in many genres, with her style now reflecting R&B and Pop influences. Writing music has always been Eleanor’s passion and an essential part of expressing her emotions. Eleanor hopes for her music to be able to uplift and remind others of their own strength within, whilst focussing on self-love and empowerment.

Eleanor has released four singles so far. She appeared on BBC Scotland for Emelie Sande’s Street Symphony Orchestra and two of her singles have received airplay on BBC Music Introducing Scotland, BBC RAPAL and BBC Music Introducing Humberside.

Eleanor’s newest single “2017” was released on the 23rd of July of this year. Eleanor plans to continue recording and releasing music in the next few months whilst she studies at The Academy of Music and Sound in Edinburgh. She looks forward to her upcoming gigs later this year in and around Scotland.
