My Background
Andrew Prior is a designer, artist, musician and educator based at University of Plymouth, UK. He received his PhD from Aarhus University in 2015. He has had work performed and exhibited in New York, Tokyo, Aarhus, Roskilde, London, Brno & Žilina. As a graphic designer and animator, he has worked with Liminal, Fourway Lab, PlayHard, GoingPublic and Centrica. He has released music with Nonclassical Records and Yacht Club Records; and worked with John Matthias, Adrian Corker, John Richards, The Elysian Quartet, Consortium 5 on projects release on 4AD, and Counter Records, an imprint of Ninjatune. His research interests are concerned with post-digitality, media archaeology and artistic research, explored both through theory and art practice. Central to this are the importance of transdisciplinarity— which is a feature of all his research projects —and medium reflexivity, explored both through writing, and hands-on engagement with coding, performance, hacking, still-image, moving image and sound.
