My Background
Dr Núria Bonet is a Lecturer in Music at the University of Plymouth. Her research interests lie in the fields of practice-as-research and organology, as she produces peer-reviewed written outputs as well as compositional outputs. Her doctoral portfolio focused on the use of data sonification as a compositional tool. Her current compositional research looks at placemaking through contemporary music, and clarinet music in particular. Núria has also carried out extensive research on the history and construction of Catalan instruments. She makes regular media appearances to discuss her research, including on the BBC, the Guardian and Catalunya Radio.
Núria teaches on a range of music-related topics, including music history, music theory, music psychology and composition. She has supervised research students working on a range of practice-as-research topics in performance and composition. Finally, she continues her work as a composer as she has received regular commissions from ensembles including Psappha (UK) and Lucilin United Instruments of Luxembourg.
She has one PhD completion with a second completion expected by the end of 2025.
